Lab 1: Nez Perce Map

Nez Perce Map:
This map represents how the Nez Perce lands have been reduced over a long period of time. The data needed to have clear contrast to better determine the change in land ownership. I didn’t change too much on this map. I changed the color of the aboriginal land from green to beige to show better background contrast from the current Nez Perce lands. I changed the legend slightly as well removed the word “Legend” to better apply cartographic convention for map elements.

  1. Well done. We both know this isn’t an easy map to nicely produce.
    Some things here and there.
    Fabulous credits . . . ? : )
Might want to change inset projection.
The grey legend may cause some items to blend into the background.
    Reduce size of scale bar.
Increase label text of cities and rivers. I like the placement of Pullman, within the territory border.
Like the state borders. Nicely done.
Good general color scheme and areas displayed well – overlapped areas’ symbology wasn’t too confusing. One note, the 1855 area’s color may be too close to state border colors.
Add a mask to Lapwai and properly label the Clearwater ? Is that the Clearwater, or the South fork?
Re-align the inset and legend evening distanced from bottom neatline and respective sides.
    Generally a well done map.
